Committee Leaders and Goals for the 2024/2025 School Year
- Outreach Committee - Leader Ann Mantil
- Launch the Family Mentoring Program
- Represent the PA at key school events (i.e. Back to School nights)
- Manage and promote the “Parent Volunteer Opportunities” list
- Support and promote the “Student Community Service Opportunities” list
- Support the planning and implementation of the 5-year Strategic Improvement Plan by participating in and soliciting parents to serve on taskforce initiatives.
- Events Committee - Leader - OPEN
- Support planning and execution of 5K Road Race, Literacy Lane, International Food Night, Corporate Sponsor Day(s), Level Field Days, and the Spring Fair.
- Manage Name Tag station at school events to encourage community building.
- Fundraising Committee - Leader Dawn Whitney
- Support 5K Road Race fundraising efforts by soliciting sponsorships and in-kind donations from community businesses.
PA Committees - Roles and Responsibilities
- Outreach Committee
- Serve as parent ambassadors by promoting PA initiatives such as the Family Mentoring Program, Parent Directory, SSCPS Connect, etc.
- Encourage greater parent involvement in the school by providing a wide array of parent engagement and participation opportunities.
- Identify SSCPS volunteer needs and recruit parents to fulfill those needs.
- Partner with the school to identify and coordinate community service opportunities for students.
- Welcome and support new and transitioning families.
- Recommend parent representatives to serve on SSCPS standing and ad hoc committees or other governance groups, as necessary (e.g., Education Committee, Charter Renewal, Strategic Planning, etc.)
- Events Committee
- Partner with school to plan and execute events (including the creation of SignUpGenius event planning forms when needed.)
- Fundraising Committee
- Support the school’s fundraising efforts.
- Plan and execute fundraising events to support the PA’s and the schools’ initiatives.
Ad Hoc Committees and School Support Requests (e.g., Wellness, Transportation, Diversity & Inclusion, Library, Bylaws, and Community Service, etc.) can be activated as determined by the Executive Committee.
